Last week was a bit of a pinch‑me moment for all of us at Steel & Co. Danny was invited to Number 11 Downing Street with our MP, Jess Asato, to meet Chancellor Rachel Reeves. It’s not every day you get to walk through that famous black door, but what really matters is why he was there — to speak up for Lowestoft and the local businesses that keep our town moving.
As Chair of Lowestoft Vision, Danny spends a huge amount of time championing the High Street, supporting regeneration projects and pushing for the investment we need. The reception brought together small and medium‑sized businesses from across the East, and it was a great chance for Danny to talk honestly about what’s happening here at home as the Chancellor prepares her Autumn Budget.
We’re seeing real signs of confidence again in the town centre — new businesses opening, others expanding, and more people choosing to invest locally. It’s something we’re passionate about as a team, and Danny took that message straight to Westminster.
Taking Lowestoft’s Voice to Westminster
Jess Asato said:

Looking Ahead: Lowestoft Christmas Lights Switch‑On
Next up on the calendar is one of our favourite events of the year — the Lowestoft Christmas Lights Switch‑On. It’s happening on Saturday 29 November from 2pm–6pm in the town centre.
The main stage on London Road North (by Starbucks) will be packed with music, local performers and plenty of festive fun. Uptown Nights will be performing live before Father Christmas and the Mayor switch on the lights at 5pm.
You’ll also find stalls and activities from local organisations including Waterlane Leisure Centre, St Elizabeth Hospice and the East Anglia Transport Museum — plus free all‑day parking in East Suffolk Council car parks.
It’s always a brilliant day for families, shoppers and visitors, and a great reminder of what community spirit feels like in Lowestoft.
